Nigerian singer Tems wins Best International Act at the 2022 BET Awards

The BET Awards was held on Sunday June 26, 2022 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The BET award is dedicated in it's community to celebrate black diaspora success in fashion, performing arts, music, and sports.

Nigerian Afro Beat singer, Temilade Openiyi also known as Tems won the Best International Act at the BET Awards 2022 and she won Best Collaboration with Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ featuring Justin Bieber.

Tems was also the first Nigerian Female artist to win a BET awards. After winning her first ever awards, She had a heartfelt speech urging women to chase their dreams.

She also said She said: “Thank you so much for this, thank you so much. It’s an honour… I mean, this is my first award show that I’m winning something and I just want to use this as an opportunity to speak to every single young, old, whatever, every single woman watching this, every single girl watching this at home. Where I’m from, things like this don’t happen.”
